Carole Howes has a BSc(Hons) degree in Speech and Language Pathology and has a licence to practise as a Speech and Language Therapist. She also has a post-graduate Diploma in teaching and assessing learners with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia). The diploma is approved by the British Dyslexia Association. Carole is a state-registered Speech and Language Therapist and a member of the Health Professions Council (HPC). Her clinical practice adheres to a strict code of conduct set out by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). Members of the RCSLT are expected to demonstrate continuing educational and professional development. Before becoming an independent speech and language therapist, she worked for the National Health Service and gained experience working with children of all ages in a range of health and education settings. She has a specific interest in Dysfluency (stammering/stuttering) and is a member of the British Stammering Association and the National Special Interest Group for Dysfluency. She is trained by the "Michael Palin Centre" in use of Parent Child Interaction Therapy. Carole also has extensive experience of working with a wide range of speech and language difficulties including development delay/ disorder, autistic spectrum disorders, specific language impairment, phonological and articulation problems. She believes in supporting the whole person in their communication development, therefore links with parents, nurseries, schools and colleges are seen as an important part of therapy. Carole believes in liaising closely with other professionals especially any other speech and language therapists. |
